i seem to be doing a lot of necklaces these warm summer months. they go with the season – exposed necks, open necklines perfect for change!
in this instance, mom dropped by a dated family ring which had belonged to her mother and told me that her daughter would love a necklace. i have had wonderful opportunities to design for this family, so i already had a sense of each individual’s style. the daughter is a professional person and has a young child. she is not a fussy type, but she loves her jewelry – especially pieces with understated design.
from the very dated leaf-style dome ring, we rescued a stunning one caret emerald cut diamond. one really could not help but notice the beauty of the stone even in that old setting. i love the geometry of this cut – emerald cut diamonds are my favorite shape.
for the redesign we took the diamond, a slightly fancy fleur d’lisle setting to drop the diamond into, and a solid faceted cable link chain to hang it from.
it all came together beautifully.
