Akoya pearls are very special, cultured from oysters found only off the hidden bays and coast of Japan. These beauties became iconic thanks to CoCo Chanel, who made pearl jewelry a must-have accessory in the 1920s. This client wanted to fall back in love with her Akoya pearl earrings. Originally, these were pearl clusters on post style earrings but she hadn’t worn them in ages. I suggested that we restyle these, letting the pearls hang from a pair of lever back wires. With some finessing on my end, I designed these pearls to sit just below the ear lobe, far more comfortable to wear. And how fun with their bubbly grouping and diamond sparkle? Now these make for the perfect accessory, dressed up or down whether she’s fashioning a little black dress or crisp white tee and jeans.
