This client was a referral from a longtime customer and friend. She came in to explore what to do with her original wedding set. It was clear from our conversation that she loved the set so I quickly realized that she would be happiest not straying too far from the original design. However, after many decades of wearing her rings they were in need of some TLC. The center setting was barely holding the center diamond. For most of us the important part of our engagement ring is the diamond (or center stone) as was the case in this scenario. She wanted to continue to wear the set daily without any concern of the security of her beautiful center diamond. I suggested a bezel, an update that compliments the way the sapphires and diamonds are set into the bands. She liked the idea of incorporating an outline of metal around the center stone. I liked this bezel because it allows a ton of light into the stone from above as well as from the sides. My other suggestion was to solder the three rings together to help alleviate any additional wear of each ring. Now she has her original wedding set, with a subtle yet functional update so she can continue to wear these beauties for many years to come!
