This was one of my first remote design projects. We began with an email conversation after she found me online, and then we expanded into a video call.
This lovely woman who hails from the south wanted to convert her mother’s wedding band into a pendant for her great granddaughter.
It was a classic two-toned fishtail setting band. She conveyed the sentiment and meaning this ring had for her family in a way that made me not want to take the ring apart to reset the stones into something new. The solution was to create a circle from the original band, cut out but retain the ring’s diamond setting to use for a center accent. This makes this piece on trend but preserves the family continuity. The chain runs thru the hidden bail on the diamond stick.
It was ready for the original wedding day deadline that the pandemic subsequently pushed that day to later. Fast forward to almost two years later, she emailed this beautiful sentiment pictured above.
It is moments like this that so humble me. That I have been party to such an intimate loving gift and event is why I love what I do.
