A Meaningful Tchotchke Repair with a WWII Origin Story

Jewelry tells stories, stories of the heart. And every once in a while we come across a small tchotchke that is just as meaningful. This customer brought in a sweet donkey found in a box of mementos from her dad who had passed away many years ago. Along with this keepsake was a note from her mother, a short history of Donkey’s travels. He was with her dad throughout active service during WWII in Europe. He then traveled back to the States, back to Europe once more, before finally landing in Connecticut, which is where this special customer grew up. Her father had repaired Donkey but sadly they didn’t hold up over time. So with my help, a little cleanup and some re-cementing, Donkey was brought back to life. I especially love the original cork leg repair. Truly a one of a kind heirloom that deserved a new beginning.
