Incorporating Mom’s Engagement Ring into Her Own

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing this client for many years. She’s a local journalist with an excellent reputation and we’ve gotten to collaborate on many of her jewelry projects along the way. Most recently she came into the shop in need of some appraisal work. While in, I noted that her engagement ring was in need of some repair. The center crown was worn making the diamond at risk of falling out. She recently acquired her mother’s jewelry. During her visit she brought along the contents of her mother’s safety deposit box so that I could assess this stash as well. Among the beautiful baubles was her mother’s engagement ring, damaged and no longer wearable. In discussing the need to update her own engagement ring we decided to do an enhancement that would incorporate her mother’s smaller round diamonds to either side of her marquise cut diamond. I provided all new crowns, used her original shank from the engagement ring and created a newly revisioned three-stone engagement ring. A timeless beauty! The largest round diamond is for another project, another day.
