she rarely wore the earrings because her husband has given her diamond earrings which she favors. she really wanted and needed to wear these because they were originally a gift from her late father. she did not know what was possible.
she found me on line! she works in New York City but loved what she saw on my web site and on social media. so we began our correspondence by email. she sent photos and a description, I responded with some sketches.
we arrived at a design that she loved, and then she shipped both the earrings and the necklace to me.
let the fabrication begin
the earrings were taken apart, removing the lever backs so only the diamonds remained in the settings. the earrings were joined to form a “V” by soldering at the base. the necklace center piece is in 14k white gold, the diamonds are round brilliant cut stones set with shared prongs.
rather than bonding the “V” directly to the chain, using links to attach the pendant allows better wear – there is movement instead of a stiff spot where solder connection would have been. her “Singapore” chain, which has a twisted linking pattern, is in 14k yellow gold. it was split in the center, and links were added on both sides. the pendant links feed into the links added to the chain.
finished with a lobster clasp for safety, and voila! a beautiful diamond chevron necklace.
