Dad’s Wedding Band Reimagined

The daughter of one of the Pendant Sisters brought me her father’s wedding band, hoping to transform it into a piece that honored her family. Her father, her husband, and herself. She’s a January baby who loves red, so we incorporated her birthstone, garnet. Her husband was born in September, and while she isn’t fond of blue, she wanted to represent his birth month as well—so we chose white sapphire, a beautiful and symbolic alternative that also complements her love of diamonds. My original idea was to curl the band around the stones, but the gold proved too heavy for that approach. So I shifted direction by cutting the band in half, adding bezels to suggest a left and right side, and creating posts to turn the design into a pair of earrings. Viewed from the front, they show a graceful line of gold with stones appearing to balance along it. From the side, you can see the band’s original golden form. She was absolutely thrilled with the final result!
