This stunning bracelet belonged to this client’s grandmother. She remembers seeing Nana wearing this with white, elbow-length gloves, a true display of elegance. She was thrilled to be the recipient of this heirloom. Sadly, the tongue part of the clasp had broken at some point. While it did still clasp, and also featured a safety chain, it would be heartbreaking if it were to fall off and get lost. That’s what first began our conversation. She reached out via email after visiting my website and soon after sent along photos, as requested. This lead to a phone call that, much to our surprise, lasted much longer in chatting than the task at hand. From there, she shipped the bracelet to me, beautifully packaged in its original box. This began my search for the tongue’s replacement. It had to be just the correct measurement in order to snap into the box part of the clasp. There could not be any direct heat applied to this as the base metal and the rhinestones would burn and we’d have ourselves a real mess. It just so happened that I had a karat gold tongue that fit perfectly. What I wasn’t able to source was a sterling silver tongue that would fit precisely. So we opted to use the gold one. The customization of the tongue consisted of a tube soldered directly to it and then it was fitted into the hinge and secured with a rivet. Thanks to this addition, the connection from years past continues! And this client can now adorn her own wrist with this beauty without fear of it slipping off.
