She was very attracted to the vintage design of her grandmother’s pendant which was actually made from an original ring top. I immediately agreed with her that the setting has some beautiful 1940s -1950s classic design elements. She loved the idea of changing grandma’s pendant, originally a ring, back into an updated wearable ring for herself.
To get started, she sent me several designs that she found on line that caught her eye. I had a mounting in my “library of mountings” that I thought captured just the right elements from many of the images she sent, while brilliantly showcasing grandma’s diamond.
By the way, I have had the privileged of redesigning rings into pendants and converting pendants into rings, but this is my first round trip.

First, we needed to remove the bail and the prongs from the ring. Next, we opened up the center as much as the metal would allow and inserted the new/old setting into the center of the ring.
The design element remains exposed, the diamond does not sit up too high, and the band or ring sits nicely on the finger. (win-win-win)
