A Gorgeous Garnet Grown Up Ring

Every so often you meet someone where everything just clicks. There’s a familiarity and ease with each encounter, that feels like you’re in the company of a longtime friend. Such was the case with this couple. They came in several months ago frustrated with their interaction with another jeweler. She had inherited a pile, and I do mean pile, of jewelry from her family which consisted mostly of items that she wouldn’t wear and had very little emotional attachment to. Their first visit was merely a chat to get to know what she was envisioning. She has siblings – triplets who are several years younger. Since they’re recent high school graduates we began with creating some small gifts for them. Several visits later she mentioned that she’d like a large gemstone ring. Something with color that would pop. Something that felt grown up. She also wanted to use diamonds from her dad and the gold from her grandmother’s bracelet. We began with the stone. I had several beauties in stock and this antique checkerboard garnet spoke to her. She was very clear that the diamonds should only be used to accent the center stone so we opted for a classic design – the garnet in the center and the diamonds clustered on either side. She was extremely happy with the outcome of this grown up ring!
