And yet another online connection and inquiry about a costume brooch repair. This time around the design featured a very elegant flapper face adorned with beautiful glass crystals. But she was missing a few sparkles and her face needed some gentle cleaning. The pin mechanism on the back needed a bit of an adjustment as well. This was a very straight-forward repair. I used flat-backed crystals, watchmaker’s cement and a gentle cleaner, which is usually used for pearls, to wash her face. Once I was done restoring this piece to its original beauty, my client was extremely pleased. At last this flapper could be proudly worn and enjoyed.
