Two sisters came into the shop with a clear purpose. Originally from Europe, they each had a collection of oversized gemstone rings, beautifully made pieces rich with intricate design details, but no longer worn. Still, each ring held sentimental value and a tangible connection to “home.” Both sisters love necklaces and pendants. Colorful, decorative pieces that bring joy and personality to the neckline. Each ring offered an opportunity for transformation. By removing the shank and portions of the under-gallery, we were able to preserve their most striking features as pendants. The large oval amethyst retained its elegant roped frame, with a custom bail added for balance. The rosebud design featuring a round garnet was reimagined by removing the shank and using the original leaf motifs at the shoulders to form the bail. Another oval amethyst, with its domed center and pierced details, had part of its shank repurposed to create its new bail. The cushion-shaped green quartz, also domed with a lovely pierced pattern, was treated in much the same way. The pink stone, however, was left untouched, since its owner admitted she rarely wears pink. In the end, their heirloom rings were revisioned as a collection of vibrant, candy-colored pendants with each carrying beauty and memory in a fresh new form.
