Sometimes a small tweak can make all the difference as is true for this special couple. This husband and wife are repeat customers. It all began with a small but important purchase. A few repairs later, a gorgeous custom design for him… and now it was time for a little fine-tuning for her.
She loves her diamond ring and even had it reset from a classic solitaire to something a bit fancier. But it was time for a change. With two children under the age of four, this mom was ready for a resizing and slight restyle that would enhance comfort without diminishing style. This engagement ring was beginning to be bothersome on her finger.
She wanted the under gallery gone and a reconfiguration of the prongs. I suggested that we reset the diamond into a bezel, remove the decorative under gallery and size it to fit more comfortably. This one piece casting was a challenge since I had to remove as much of the underside while still carefully preserving the integrity of the mounting. By using the existing prongs as stabilizers, I was able to remove the beaded wire as well as the heart-shaped element from the underside of the ring. The bezel was lapped down to expose the underside of the diamond, allowing more light to dance through, giving her diamond that extra sparkle.
The result is an engagement ring she loves and can now wear comfortably, no matter what motherhood throws her way.
I have grown very fond of this lovely couple and their growing family. Their sense of humor and enjoyment for one another shines through as brightly as the diamond on her hand. It’s a pleasure to share my design sense and eye for jewelry with such special people. Bringing my visions to fruition is so rewarding especially when the result is a huge smile!
