An Engagement Ring Revisioning for Family

This special client and I happen to be family – cousins to be exact. Our grandfathers were brothers. I have been designing jewelry for her loved ones for years and now it was time to redo her own wedding set. She has a vibrant, bubbly personality and wanted her set reflect that. She came into the shop and we had a chat. In closing she said, “Here, I trust you. Just make magic!” Great words to hear, though I do have a tendency to put extra pressure on myself upon hearing them. The original wedding set was a bit dated but it really suited her style. It was an engagement ring with a center diamond and channel set shoulders, two channel set wedding bands on either side, all in yellow gold. Her diamonds are really pretty and still sparkle beautifully. From our conversation I knew she wanted one band. She loved the channels from the set we were redesigning. So we opted for a wide band, three channel rows, low cathedral shoulders, a six prong crown for her center diamond… and from me, a bow for the under gallery – which represents tying the past to the present. I couldn’t wait to show her the final look. Seeing her face light up was indeed, “magic!”
