Heart Ring to Commemorate Her Husband’s Passing

This client came to me as a referral after her husband passed. She brought in her original engagement ring as well as his wedding band, a claddaugh ring. They shared a long and loving marriage and she wanted to honor that by creating something she could wear to keep him close. The first challenge was to size down his ring without warping or distorting the claddaugh. The next was to incorporate the setting using the heart as the base. Her diamond is really pretty so I wanted to ensure that the back would be open enough to allow the light to dance around in the stone. But I was also mindful of keeping everything low since this was intended for daily wear. The good thing was that his ring is substantial enough to allow the heat needed to customize the ring. Once we were done this lovely client was thrilled to wear this on her finger. And how extra sweet that she’s chosen to wear this with the heart facing in because her heart is still very much “taken.”
